Today the juniors of Hatch Beauchamp school went for a school trip to @ bristol to find out about 'Changing Materials' to help us in our science. Firstly, we got all our belongings (lunchboxes etc.) and got on the bus. It was a long, one and a half hour trip, but it was worth it. When we reached @ bristol all of us went upstairs to a workshop. There, a woman called Shelly, and her deputy Alice, taught us about gases, liquid, and solids. She sorted items into gases, liquids, and solids. But here's the fun part! Shelly told us about a substance called dry ice. When its a solid it turns straight into gas when it melts. She put the ice in some water and,SHHHH! the ice went up in steam! It turns into gas first remember! Heres the fire part! Shelly got a blowtorch and a rice crispie, then caught the crispie on fire.We tried to melt the crispie, but it just went black. Here's the best part! Shelly got a vitamen C tablet, and some water, put the tablet in the water, and BANG! It exploded (In a chemical reaction). After that we made cheese. Next we went downstairs. We all went into groups and did activities.A group went to a mind tricking paper thingy. Then we built mini bridges, very diffucult. Here's a funny part. The group that I'm talking about went to a mind spinning coin.We looked at it for 20 seconds, and looked at our hands. They were dissolving! (Trick of the mind). We found out you're more likely to score a goal in skeeball if you're drunk. We didn't use beer, we used vision goggles that tricked your eyes. Then we had lunch.(Boring!)
