 NEW APPOINTMENT OF HEAD TEACHER

28th March 2008

NEW HEADTEACHER APPOINTED

Dear Parents

I am pleased to inform you that a new Headteacher has been appointed to succeed Mr Paul Dalling when he retires at the end of the summer term.

She is Mrs Deborah Barrett (48), currently a teacher at North Newton Community Primary School , where for the past seven years she has been involved as a co-ordinator of science, personal, social and health education, and special educational needs.  She has 20 years’ teaching experience.

An honours history graduate of Loughborough University subsequently taking her teaching certificate at London University ’s Goldsmith College , Mrs Barrett last year obtained her Headteacher’s qualification from the National College of School Leadership.

Originally from Castleford, Yorkshire , she is married with two children, daughter (17) and son (14), and lives in Shipham, Somerset .  Her husband is a local government officer.   Leisure interests include badminton, the gym and reading.

Your governors are sure that Mrs Barrett will bring energy, enthusiasm and experience to our school and build on the foundations established by Mr Dalling.  I hope you will give her great support as she enters this challenging chapter of her career and seeks to ensure all our children fulfil their personal and academic potential.

Yours sincerely

George W Downie
